Show me HOW you recruit and WHO you recruit, and that’s all I need to know about the quality of your chapter.

It’s not just about numbers! Having a healthy growth system is about so much more than increasing the size of your chapter. The way you recruit impacts every area of your chapter. Engagement, finances, campus involvement, academics, leadership, belonging, serving your community, everything!

I was recently at a fraternity convention teaching Dynamic Recruiting and found myself at a table having lunch with a National board member and long-time organization volunteer. His name is David.

I introduced myself and that I’m on the Phired Up team. Then, pretending like he wasn’t familiar with Phired Up, David asked, “Tell me about what Phired Up does.”

I said what I’m confident anyone on our team would say.

“We believe in a healthier, safer, more inclusive future for fraternities and sororities and that the only way we are going to get there is by transforming the way people join our organizations.”

I wasn’t really sure about his opinions around recruitment, so I paused to read David’s expression. He smiled.

“RJ, you don’t know me from Adam, but I’m a Phired Up believer. In fact, I’ve been interviewing chapters for our top chapter of the year award, and after reading all of their reports, I asked them each 1 question: How many of your members are Phired Up Certified Recruiters?”

I was honestly in a little moment of shock.

And what David said next was one of the wisest growth statements I’ve ever heard…
