Discovering What Really Matters: How iValu Creates a Path to Authentic Connections
In today’s world, students are searching for
more than just a place to fit in.
They’re looking for real connection, true belonging, and a sense of purpose that resonates at a deeper level. And as they step into recruitment, they deserve a tool that helps them find it. That’s where the new iValu comes in. This isn’t just an activity or a values list — this is a journey designed to help students uncover and articulate what matters most to them, connecting them with communities that feel like home.
Why iValu? Because Today’s Students Deserve More!
For years, iValu has helped students explore their values. iValu is a product that has helped thousands of PNMs and countless Panhellenic communities to easily, quickly, and with purpose educate PNMs who are entering the recruitment process and help them easily identify the values that matter most to them.
But to meet today’s students where they are, we knew we had to go deeper. The reimagined iValu was built with Generation Z’s unique perspective in mind, using a structured approach grounded in social science and psychology. Here, PNMs don’t just pick values off a list — they go on a journey of discovery that’s rooted in evidence-based research, exploring, ranking, and defining the values that make them who they are.
You know that students’ values aren’t arbitrary or just ‘nice-to-know’ — they’re fundamental. Values shape the people we are, the decisions we make, and the connections we seek. With the new iValu, PNMs have the space to identify five values that matter to them most, building a foundation for honest, values-driven conversations throughout recruitment. It’s a tool that not only empowers students but supports you as a partner in helping them find their place in a way that feels meaningful and true.
A New Kind of Values Experience
The reimagined iValu isn’t your typical values exercise. It wasn’t built to be a “one-size-fits-all” tool. Instead, iValu challenges each PNM to reflect, dig deep, and think critically about who they are and what they want out of their sorority experience. Today’s PNMs want more than just a social fit; they’re searching for alignment, support, and belonging that matches their core beliefs. Here’s how it works:
1. Reflection & Awareness
Students start with guided reflection, considering what truly matters to them. They explore questions like, “What brought me to recruitment?” and “What do I hope to find in a sorority?” This step sets the stage for deeper self-awareness and values exploration, encouraging students to look beyond the surface.
2. Identification & Ranking
Using a process called “formal values elicitation”, PNMs identify a set of five values that feel authentic and relevant to them. They rank these values thoughtfully, seeing them not as a simple checklist but as an expression of their unique identity. This step is a game-changer, helping students see how their values connect to the choices they’ll make.
3. Defining & Articulating
The final step is where clarity meets confidence. Students define what their values mean to them personally, creating statements that go beyond the words themselves. It’s about understanding—and communicating—why these values matter, setting the stage for honest, meaningful conversations with chapters that align with their principles.
Through the Companion App, PNMs access iValu with the same log-in information they used when registering for recruitment, making it easy to dive right in. And you, our partners, can view these insights through CampusDirector, providing a broader, more nuanced understanding of each student’s priorities while also gaining clarity on what your future community cares about and values as a whole.
